Dementia Friends Champions Trainings equip individuals with the knowledge and resources needed to deliver Dementia Friends information sessions in their communities. Dementia Friends sessions help community members understand dementia and the big and small things they can do to make a difference in the lives of individuals living with dementia. Dementia Friend Champions Trainings are a part of an international movement and include information specific to either Individuals with Intellectual and developmental disabilities and dementia or individuals living alone with dementia. Both interactive trainings include a description of dementia, how it impacts individuals, early warning signs, communication and conversation strategies and community resources. Attendees will receive electronic materials such as a Dementia Friends session workbook, Champions Guide and other materials used in program delivery. These programs are offered at no cost and are funded by a grant from the Department of Health & Human Services, Administration for Community Living (#90ADPI0008-01-00).  For each training, two free CEs will be available for Ohio nurses and social workers.
